Hi guys,

Thanks for the concern. It's not life-threatening at this point but it's going to be a long road...several months before he will be walking unassisted. Sooo...I've got my hands pretty full between caring for a virtual invalid, my son, and the dogs.......and 8 puppies! Whenever I get a few mins, I'll take pics, but posting the pics takes a lot more time than taking them. I like to shoot pics most times they go outside. Thankfully, they're a bit bigger and hardier and the weather is not -50 anymore, so they can spend more time playing outside.

I apologize to anyone who thinks I'm blowing them off regarding emails or PM's. I promise, I will do my best to get back to everyone individually, but please, keep emailing me and reminding me. You are NOT bothering me.  My brain is fried and I may well forget. Hell, I even forgot to feed myself. And I'm usually a bad-ass multitasker, if I do say so myself! Remembered the pups, of course (like they'd let me forget!), and my son is fine, and I'm actually not as horrible a nurse as my friends were guessing (I'm already being referred to as Nurse Ratched) but I guess I have not quite mastered multitasking to the degree I thought. I felt a little sick last night and my bf asked me when I'd eaten last and what it was. I couldn't remember. I think it was Monday. What Smile Teeth Smile

I ate, Jackie! It was great! Teeth Smile I realized that sounded really ditzy...lemme explain. I'm celiac and cannot, absolutely cannot, have gluten. I haven't been in a "safe" place to eat, really, since the accident, and when I got home, well, I just had so many other bodies to take care of, I just kinda forgot by the time I could've taken a break to eat. I was thinking about eating, hungry...but not willing to chance it and be unable to take care of everyone, which is exactly what would happen if I got "glutened" by grabbing something on the run. I am not THAT out of it that I just failed to eat for 3 days, lol.

They don't keep you in the hospital anymore. I can't believe he's home in this condition. Trained nurse I am not, yet he's at my mercy, lol. Our house is not prepared for this. When he falls asleep for a bit, I move stuff to try to get it navigable for the coming months once he's mobile. Back in the day, he'd have spent a week in the hospital. He goes back for more surgery on Wed., then in the next 8-12 weeks, possibly 2 more. Loooong road, poor baby. Sad Smile

Here's Combover; when he wrinkles his face up, you can see it clearly. When he's "at ease" it's getting harder to see. See below pics.

Jen:  rent him a power wheelchair, not a scooter, a power wheelchair.  He obviously needs to learn to navigate it now if he's got a road ahead a bit bumpy.  Just call a get him one, don't ask him as he WON'T want one, will be so much easier on you.  Just do it...  Good luck  Nan  (YOur local medical supply will get it for him or hospital he was in.  Surprised they sent him home without something, threaten them if you have to) maybe after his next surgery??  JHC  Nan

Nan, that's a good idea, though he's not ready for that yet. He's absolutely bedridden for a while yet. It's his whole right side, really. I guess if there were controls on the left side of the wheelchair (I hadn't even thought of a power one) that might work when he's in better condition and starts to get bored...I was thinking regular wheelchair would help, but with only one arm, couldn't really work it well, so I'd still be in charge (which is fine). . This is a worker's comp. case so we shall see how it goes. He's lucky he's alive. My brother in law said if there's a problem, he can get him a free wheelchair to use. He has some type of connection, I guess, though someone he's done contract work for. Honestly, our house is the biggest problem. It's older (60's) and has narrow hallways and he'll never make the turns with his leg at the angle it has to stay. So...time will tell.

But I did update the puppy pics;-).

Back to playing Nurse Ratched. Goodnight, everyone!
