Schutzhund was created to be a test of breed worthyness.  Also, Schutzhund used to be much more difficult and the dogs were not expected to be so correct in certain aspects as they are now!  It is difficult and one must be a good/great trainer to receive high points with a dog that is high in agression also.  You had the straight up wall that was much higher and also I believe the decoy used to have and fire a gun durring bite work if I am not mistaken.  There were several other elements that created more stress for the dog than there used to be but I can't remember all of them.  The sport of Schutzhund and German Shepherds as a whole HAVE been "dummed down!"   This dumbing down has even been done with in the last couple of years when the SV changed the title from SchH 1, 2, 3 to VPG 1, 2, 3 to make it more Politically Correct and you cant use certain commands on the long bite anymore...yada, yada, yada.  I feel that this is an attempt to make the breed and sport look more PC to maybe help divert those who might target our sport and certain breeds that participate in our sport.  The great German Shepherd was not created to be a herding dog alone!

I admire those that strive to improve and bring back a little hardness to their lines......God willing I will add some hardness to my lines also!  My Karn Fegelhof son is a pretty hard dog and I am really excited and anxious to get him titled and start competing with him!  He is a challenge some times but with the help that I have availble we will go far!
