4pack: want to hear something real funny? A local vet looked at some pics of my females and males that a lady wanted to buy a puppy out of and he made this blanket statement: My my, theres something terribly wrong with these gshepherds, their heads are too large and their bodies are slim, even the females have large heads and thats not normal....HAHAHA she took them to her vet because she was worried about lots of things ha ha Her vet ask that he help her with the choice of a german shep because of HD I laughed so hard i almost got choked. I just gave her copies of the OFA cert and when she called me with that I said well lady my advice to u is u better change vets before u buy one of my pups and I gave her several names and phone numbers of german breeders to talk to and 2 weeks later she was here with her deposit for her pup which just took 2 inches of skin off my arms and legs a few minutes ago and scratced my face and I look like ive been in a fight. These are pups from a Female with working lines and my boy has Tiekerhook way back and he has Busecker Schloss and all the old lines that were show and work Weithurchen, and good ole Lasso Val de Sol and gobs of others. Big heads and slim bodies to some sounds freaky

Hey DR, Sorry, I was too busy to check for taunts. Look at the listed dogs. Of the group Lasko is the only one that does not exhibit the characteristics that I mentioned. In real life I have seen what seem to me to be a considerable majority that have been small boned with weak heads etc... I do not claim to have difinitive stats as to the major concerns for the working lines. These are just MY observations, just as I and most who care also note trends of excessive rear angulation, steep fronts, weak drives, etc in the showlines. There remain several familial lines on each side that maintain excellence in SPITE of the trend. However, I consider it important to observe and assess as objectively as possible the changes that affect our breed. As stated I have been impressed with the positive structural changes that have been effected in the working lines, but recognize that they are only possible through diligence and careful adherence to high standards of breeding. There are enough dogs of universal excellence that we do not need to make compromises that reverse the improvements. Best Wishes, Jonah

Again jdh, you are totally in error. You can't base and make a blanket statement over 2-3 dogs. I have been around long enough to know you don't know what you are talking about. Not taunting you just stating the facts. I suspect you have been around backyard breedings while I have been around dogs that actually work. Best wishes
