The coated pups my female has had have been INCREDIBLE.

susie-  I still don't know whether he's a coat or not, DNA will tell us that soon. Even if he is, I have no intentions of selling him, as you mentioned, my females are all stock coated, so I don't see the problem with breeding him to them later.
I do have to mention that I've noticed not a single word from the person who previously insinuated he had "ear implants"!!  What a joke! Did his ears look like they needed any help standing in ANY of the pics posted of him?

I don´t see a problem at all ...
Forget about the ears, pure nonsense.

Oh and by the way, thanks to seeofred for complimenting Betovens' "uncle" Tyson Fixfrutta,  he and my pups dam are littermates! So theres nice genes in there!

Not longcoats, but LSC's. And yeah...every litter that's had one, that pup was (one of) my favorite(s)!  Great intense temperaments with a more laid-back side. Really a good balance. I would love to study the way recessive genes pair with others someday when I'm independently wealthy and can afford to sit around and research.

If the dog is healthy and has excellent temperament and conforms to the standard, then I care not exactly how long his/her guard hairs are.

@ zdog- no  a plush coat is not simply a long coat with "less" coat, it is genetically a stock coat that carries the long coat gene, this is per Animal Genetics website of coat lengths. DNA doesn't lie.

The fault lies in LONG COATS who lack undercoat. Undercoat w/longer guard hairs.............non-issue.

This just taken off the Animal Genetics website:  There are only 3 types of coat a GSD can carry:

1) l/l- dog caries 2 copies of the long-hair allele, will be long haired and will always pass ONLY the long coat allele gene to its offspring.
2) L/l- dog carries one dominant/one recessive gene. Will have short coat, carries the long coat gene but can pass either the long or short coat gene to offspring.
3) L/L- dog is negative for the long coat gene, will be short haired, and will always pass only the short coat gene to its offspring.

I feel a little bad for the breeder of my LSC, who seems to still  be kicking herself for letting what she says was the "best" female in the litter come to the US.  But no one else there wanted a LSC, and I didnt care what my girl looked like.
