Maybe someone should start a thread called bad dogs,  where everyone can list the dogs that you know of who have died of , or are known to have produced genic problems like this.  I have not heard of most of these dogs and am very greatful for this info. 

I did send a personal message to Ansgar, as my posting earlier said I was going to.  I politely asked about the autopsy report, as Julie and Tom Bridge are not in receipt of any report.

I expected a reply.  When I didnt get one, I assumed that Ansgar would be busy preparing for the Seiger.... it is now Thursday 18th and I still have received no reply.  Devoid of this database I have been asked how her father lost his life, and I am unable to answer that question.

Perhaps Ansgar will get back to me in the fullness of time... but I cant help but feel a little uneasy that after 10 days I havent received a pm back, or an email direct to help me to understand what the sire of my puppy died from at such a young age.....  "heart infection"  is such a banale term and covers nothing.   Mo - Mascani

Snowman, there is such a website, it's called the Breed Betterment Board and it lists health information as well as causes of death. These databases depend on input from the owners. 

Thanks for that info Blitzen - I have been on to that board, and its very interesting, but I havent found Alfons data anywhere, that may be me though, as I am very self taught, and could have missed it.  Would some-one sensible enough to know how to use a search on the board have a look?  Thanks in advance   Mo - Mascani

why did Alfons die, what was the cause.  Like others I have an Alfons young daughter, so had an interest in why such a young fit and apparently healthy dog suddenly died.   Ansgar posted that he had an autopsy done, and that a copy had been sent to Julie and Tom.  They have no report, and are as wise as us all as to what happened to their very beautiful dog.  They are devestated.  I sent a personal message to Ansgar on 8th September 2008 to ask him privately what the Autopsy report revealed, for my own information owning progeny.   To date, I have had NO REPLY. I have given Ansgar the benefit of doubt that he was busy preparing for the Seiger, it is now over, some 9 days, and I have not had the courtesy of a reply.    I am disgusted  and of course, I am now suspicious, with good cause brought on my Ansgars apparent lack of communication on what should be a very important matter to the many people that have progeny.  I would have thought a man in Ansgars position would realise the need for open truthfulness regarding this matter - after all - further breeding from this sire is likely to go on is it not?  Can anyone in the medical field imagine a cause of death on certification as ...................."heart infection".............. At the risk of being like a terrier with a rat, I have to report that from 8th September until today, having sent a private message to Ansgar regarding the cause of Alfons death, I have received no reply at all.

From that I conclude that I will do no more asking - I am sure that Ansgar will be pleased, as it seems it is too hard a question for him to present the answer to.   This gives me great sadness that an SV judge is so narrow sighted that he cannot see the benefit to people that have used Alfons, or have siblings - to be aware of the cause of death.   Perhaps he is not narrow minded on this matter, perhaps he just doesnt bloody care.   Yes, I am offended now.    So offended, I would like to ask if anyone knows whether Ansgar made Alfons the well known dog that he was - , or whether Alfons made Ansgar  the well known man he was. ???  Most people I have spoken to had not heard of Ansgar until Alfons.....                                 Mo Lakin  -  Mascani.
