From Dog Food Advisor in USA
The problem is I don't know what dog food companies in USA get their animal fat from this plant, does anyone else? I wonder if they would tell a person who they sell their animal fat to.. https://www.valleyproteins.com/fats-and-proteins/pet-food-ingredients/

The FDA recently discovered an animal euthanasia drug (pentobarbital) in test samples collected at a major supplier of animal fat to the pet food industry.

We're unable to locate any information about which pet food brands may have purchased the affected ingredient.

For this reason, we recommend all dog and cat owners remain alert to the potential for future recalls related to this news.

Nothing on the FDA recall list yet https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts

I hate when there is something like this but not enough consumer information has been released to let us know what foods are affected.

Mindhunt I agree.
I guess that is why it is so important to know exactly where your brand of dog food (if one feeds kibbles or other processed food) sources all of its ingredients from. You would hope that the pet food companies care enough about the creatures who eat their foods to pay attention to this and let the buyers know or at the very least do voluntary recall of any of their products that had animal fat from this rendering plant. In USA the media gets everyone hyped up about ingredients from China but says nothing when domestic product is tainted or dangerous?

I just sent emails to Wysong and Fancy Feast to see if they use ingredients from Valley Proteins. It would be nice if everyone contacted whichever company(ies) that makes the food they're using and when they get an aswer, post back to this thread :)

NatureDragon, although unintended, you gave me my laugh of the day: "You would hope that the pet food companies care enough about the creatures who eat their foods to pay attention to this and let the buyers know or at the very least do voluntary recall of any of their products that had animal fat from this rendering plant."

While I would hope that the smaller, independent dog food manufacturers would care I am highly skeptical that any of the big corporations (Colgate-Palmolive, Mars, Nestle, etc.) will do a thing until animals become sick/die.

If ayone is interested in learning about all the shenanigans that go on in the pet food industry the Truth About Pet Food website is excellent. Link to the article about the pentobarbital:  https://truthaboutpetfood.com/fda-warning-letter-alerts-us-to-more-pentobarbital-in-pet-food/

ZweiGSD I know it sounds funny, but I meant the brands that most people on here feed, which likely are NOT the ones made by the big corporations that make all kinds of crappy products, not only pet food.
I found this video and I'm sure these companies would buy animal fat thoughtlessly where ever they could get the cheapest price for it.

I contacted Victor and they said they do not use Valley Protein for their fat.

Thank you jettasmom for sharing Victor's response!
