I wanted to ask everyone here a question about a dog who lives inside all the time. She is 1 year old and for the last 3 months she's been very stinky. Typical dog smell but she's kept in a clean crate and the yard is grass. We've bathed her routienly but now it's becomming a problem of her stinking after a day or to from her last bath. She is fed Chicken Soup for Dog lovers adult formula. Not over weight either. She gets fresh water several times daily too. Her crate (when she in it) is just the bare pan in the bottom as she will destroy anything that is put in their for her comfort. I clean the pan every day too. I'm at a loss as to why the smell. Anything I should be doing differently? I would appreciate any help you can offer. Happy Holidays Too! Leo

Hello Leo, Have you ever noticed your dog licking itself quite often? If so that could be part of the culprit,as well have you really looked at the dogs ears? She could have an ororous infection.Malodorous sliva can really cause some bad smells too. I would this isnt the case to ,but Diabetes can do the same thing as they can change an awfil odor in greath from kidney failures.Flatulence can to cause this smell and you may never know its coming from the do,or thedog has the problem,as well it can come though skin pores. Its not to often that GSD's get this problem, but sweat from the anal glads can transpond into the air, or around the dogs end.You might look into these first,if not the case take the dog to the vet,can even be allgery or fungus on the skin. Jerry As well I hope that you had an awesome Christmas, and will hav a Great new years too!

Jerry, I haven't noticed her licking herself but her breath is bad at times too. I'm going to make an appointment to see the vet with her next week. Thanks for the well wishes! Happy New Years to you too! Leo

alot of times this has to do with the food. I got a female dog a few years ago that that the same problem. she smelled so bad that you had to have all the windows down in the car when and after she was in it. When I got her home I started her on a 24 hour fast and then gave her aloe juice to drink this will cleanse the system and then switched her over to the raw diet (also a very good organic kibble will do) and within 2 weeks she was tolerable and within 30 days no smell at all. I kept her on the aloe for the entire month, and some plain yogart. Good luck Heather
